I'm a longtime art fan, and I don't think it's a secret to anyone that most contemporary art SUCKS! I stopped going to most galleries because the denatured utterly bland crap on the walls pissed me off, and I didn't feel it was worth elevating my blood pressure to look at it. I hate to sound reactionary, but recently at the Modern at a show on New works from latin America (where it was nice to see the same kind of bullshit that affects American art affects them, too) I saw one artist whose works consisted of white paper with a dot in the center. The text for these "pieces" was longer than the canvases. I thought I was part of some Monty Python skit for a minute. I intend this blog to be a gallery of the crap that is contempo art.
To experience the erosion of our aesthetics in person, simply go to Met and wander the galleries chronologically. It's impossible to arrive a the end and not exclaim, "What the fuck!"
